The 100% government-owned and controlled corporation in the Philippines, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), announced a new senior-level appointment. Last week, the group confirmed it hired the services of the lawyer and legal expert, Wilma Eisma. Joining PAGCOR, she was appointed to the role of Chief Operating Officer and President.
Lawyer Eisma succeeds the role from Juanito Sanosa Jr., who left the role of Chief Operating Officer and President last January. As a part of PAGCOR's C-suite, Eisma brings extensive experience and marks the first-ever woman to serve as Chief Operating Officer and President for the group.
Currently, Eisma holds a law degree from the Ateneo de Manila University. As a lawyer with years of experience, she was able to gain unique skills after holding a range of important senior-level positions.
Eisma's professional experience includes C-suite roles with the Philippine affiliate of Philip Morris International, PMFTC Inc. Moreover, she served as Chairman and Administrator for the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, also known as SBMA.
Most recently, Eisma was a part of the Development Bank of the Philippines. During her tenure with the organization, she held the role of member of the Board of Directors.
PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco shared his excitement about the latest senior-level hire in a statement. "We are happy to welcome Atty. Wilma Eisma as PAGCOR’s new President and COO," he revealed. Finally, Tengco pointed out: "We know she will be a great asset, and her vast experience in both the government and private sectors will surely be put to good use here."
PAGCOR confirmed that it held a ceremony last week with lawyer Eisma taking her oath of office before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin. The event took place in Malacanang. After the oath-taking ceremony, the executive joined her first Board meeting at PAGCOR.
