The global gaming and entertainment company that offers some of the best-in-class hotels and casinos, MGM Resorts International, announced it has awarded more than $2.7 million to different nonprofit organizations. A statement released by the company reveals that different nonprofit community organizations in New Jersey, New York, Mississippi, Michigan, Ohio, Nevada and other areas where the company operates, received donations in grants from the MGM Resorts Foundation.
The recent donation provided vital funding for different organizations that focus on economic opportunities, workforce development and affordable housing. Additionally, nonprofits that deal with homelessness, food insecurity, health and wellness, K-12 education, family services and other services catering to veterans and seniors also benefitted from the latest donations. Overall, 107 such organizations received funding from the Grant Fund of the MGM Resorts Foundation.
Maria Gatti, the Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement, shared her excitement saying: "MGM Resorts employees continue to amaze us with their generosity and commitment to our local communities." Finally, she pointed out: "On behalf of our 107 grant recipients, thank you for your donations and even more importantly, for enlivening our company's belief in investing in our communities through giving as well as volunteerism."
The company's employees play an important part in the donations and contributions of the Foundation. This is because they donate to the Community Grand Fund throughout the year, while the organizations that will receive those donations are selected by the Community Grant Councils. Those Councils consist of employee committees that volunteer to represent different regions where the company operates and help select local nonprofit organizations that will receive donations.
Currently, MGM Resorts follows a sustainable growth program and remains committed to creating a strong bond with local communities with jobs, skills development and collaborations with educators, the public sector and nonprofit organizations. All those efforts, including the latest donations, complement the company's "Focused on What Matters: Embracing Humanity and Protecting the Planet" philosophy. This philosophy seeks to help the company grow sustainably, an effort that many companies within the gaming and entertainment sector focus on.
It was back in 2002 when the MGM Resorts Foundation was established as a way for the employees of the company to contribute with donations to different nonprofit organizations, charities and good causes. Since its foundation, more than two decades ago, to date, more than 1,500 charitable organizations have received funding from the $100 million raised in donations. In addition to MGM's employees, guests of the company's venues can also contribute to such charitable causes.
