Merkur Casino helps three charities with £12,000 donation

The leading provider of gambling entertainment offering live roulette, table games and slots, Merkur Casino, announced it completed a donation last week. The operator revealed Thursday it donated £12,000 ($10,000) to three different charities.

The donation helped Willen Hospice, FareShare and Action for Children, charities that each have a noble purpose. The gaming operator explained that the contributions to each of the organizations became possible "thanks to the kind donations of its customers."

Willen Hospice provides invaluable support and care for people who are facing life-limiting diagnoses. Besides such patients, the Hospice helps the families of those people and operates through community donations, volunteering, as well as fundraising all year long.

Merkur Casino's head office is located in Milton Keynes, an area close to Willen Hospice. Through the donation, besides helping the Hospice, the leading gaming operator is also strengthening its relationship with the community and providing invaluable funding for people who need it.

On the other hand, FareShare has more than 32 warehouses in the UK that help with distributing food in an effort against food poverty and hunger. The organization plays a vital part against food poverty as it helps distribute surplus food, which is food that would go to waste unless consumed.

Thanks to the new donation from Merkur Casino, FareShare will help support some 2,100 families. This is critical support considering that in the UK, one in 10 people are facing struggles when it comes to affording food.

The last organization that received a part of the donation is Action for Children, a UK children's charity that was formerly known as National Children's Home. The organization has been active for more than 150 years and its primary focus is supporting young people and vulnerable children and ensuring they have a happy childhood.

In a statement released on December 22, 2022, Mark Schertle, Merkur Casino representative, said about the donation to Action for Children: "By becoming a Secret Santa, we're hoping to put a bit of magic back into Christmas for children who may otherwise not receive any gifts at all."

He explained that the company is excited to support the charities through those donations. "Having spoken to our teams we have tried to work with charities that mean a lot to the people that work here, along with knowing that our donations will make an immediate difference," said Schertle in conclusion.
