The Swedish game studio, powering online gambling operators across the globe with high-quality video slots and RGS engine, Thunderkick, announced a key senior-level promotion.
On Thursday, the company revealed that it decided to promote Johanna Backlund to the important role of Head of Marketing.
Overall, Backlund has more than two decades of experience in the gambling sector.
For the last couple of years, she helped oversee Thunderkick's company-wide marketing strategy.
During that time, Backlund played a pivotal role in the implementation and development of this strategy.
Now, as Head of Marketing, the executive will be in charge of increasing Thunderkick's brand visibility.
Leveraging her extensive experience, Backlund is expected to help the company grow its footprint in strategic markets around the world.
In a press release, Backlund shared her excitement about the latest announcement.
"January 2025 will mark my second anniversary with Thunderkick, and I am incredibly excited to kick off the new year as Head of Marketing," she revealed.
Finally, Thunderkick's new Head of Marketing added: "It has been a pleasure to work with such a talented and motivated group of colleagues, and I look forward to facilitating the company’s future success."
Svante Sahlström, Thunderkick's Chief Commercial Officer, added: "Johanna is an integral part of Thunderkick’s operations, planning and executing campaigns with ruthless efficiency."
Finally, the executive pointed out: "Having her step into the role of Head of Marketing was a natural progression, and we have no doubt she will continue to deliver exceptional results."
Only recently Thunderkick secured a Danish license on its path to further expansion. This week, the company confirmed that it successfully obtained a business-to-business supplier license from the gambling regulator in the country, the Danish Gambling Authority or Spillemyndigheden.
While Thunderkick's license was secured only recently, the company confirmed it will come into effect as of January 1, 2025.
A particular focus of the new Head of Marketing will be the markets in Latin America and Canada.
Undoubtedly, Backlund's promotion will help Thunderkick further grow its footprint in those iGaming markets, and help the company retain its position as a go-to supplier for markets across Europe.
