Jason Birney joins Cordish Gaming Group

The gaming division of The Cordish Companies, Cordish Gaming Group, bolstered its senior-level team with a new senior-level appointment.

Earlier this week, the company announced it hired the seasoned executive, Jason Birney, for the role of Executive Vice President and General Manager of Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia.

The exec brings 20+ years of experience

Joining the C-suite at Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia, which offers world-class gaming, entertainment and dining experiences, Birney will be in charge of day-to-day management and operations.

In his role as EVP and General Manager, he will oversee the property’s gaming, hotel, as well as food and beverage offering.

Moreover, Birney will be in charge of marketing and guest experiences.

Ultimately, his position will seek to ensure that Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia delivers exceptional guest experiences and maintain recognition of an award-winning destination.

Before joining Cordish Gaming Group, Birney accumulated more than two decades of experience in the gaming industry.

Ahead of his appointment as EVP and General Manager, he most recently held the role of Head of Interactive Operations at Penn Entertainment.

During that time, he was responsible for ESPN Bet, which was formerly known as Barstool Sportsbook, while also overseeing Hollywood Casino and The Score products.

Notably, Birney has solid experience in casino development and operations, as well as marketing, VIP and player development and engagement, making him an excellent fit for the role at Cordish Gaming Group.

The experienced executive’s career in the gaming industry started at Caesars Entertainment in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

At the time, Birney held a number of marketing roles for properties such as Harrah’s Philadelphia and Harrah’s and Showboat in Atlantic City.

In 2018, he appeared on the Emerging Leaders of Gaming 40 Under 40 list by Global Gaming Business Magazine.

The new EVP and General Manager reveals he is honored to join the C-suite

Birney spoke with excitement about his appointment, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.
