The Cordish Companies hit milestone with gaming facility in Virginia

The Cordish Companies and Bruce Smith Enterprise hit a major milestone in Virginia with the opening of a temporary gaming facility.

The new temporary casino is part of the companies' grand project, Live! Casino Virginia, which is the region's first full-scale casino.

Temporary casino offers 900 slot machines, 30 table games

Live! Casino and Hotel Virginia is currently being constructed and the site uses 100-acres off I-95.

The premium gaming, hospitality and entertainment destination is expected to open its doors to visitors late in 2027.

Ahead of the planned opening of the permanent venue, The Cordish Companies and Bruce Smith Enterprise celebrated the opening of a temporary gaming venue.

The temporary casino uses the same site and is positioned conveniently off I-92 at Exit 48B, a press release reveals.

Visitors to the temporary casino, which is open 24/7, can enjoy more than 900 of the most popular slot machines, as well as 30 live-action table games.

Overall, the casino floor is 75,000 square feet and besides gaming options, guests can enjoy a quick-service restaurant and a signature bar.

Equally as important, Live! Casino Virginia has more than 1,000 free parking spaces.

During the recent grand opening ceremony, Virginia Lottery Board Chairman Ferhan Hamid, Virginia Lottery Executive Director Khalid Jones as well as Petersburg Mayor Samuel Parham joined The Cordish Companies and Bruce Smith Enterprise.

Also attending were members of the Petersburg City Council, Joe Theismann, the Pro Football legend, as well as representatives of local businesses and community leaders.

Live! Casino and Hotel Virginia will transform the City of Petersburg

The opening of the temporary casino represents a major step in the plan to transform the City of Petersburg into a gaming, hospitality and entertainment destination.

With planned opening in 2027, Live! Casino and Hotel Virginia is expected to deliver 200 luxury hotel rooms, 1,600 cutting-edge slot machines, more than 60 live table games and a sportsbook.

Equally as important, the premier gaming and entertainment destination will offer a range of dining options, including bars and restaurants, convention spaces, resort-style pool and many more amenities.

Jon Cordish, The Cordish Companies' Principal, spoke with excitement about the latest announcement.
