The leading business-to-business provider of technology, hardware, gaming content and services, Inspired Entertainment, announced upcoming changes to its senior-level team earlier this week. The company confirmed that Simona Camilleri will be appointed to the role of General Counsel.
In her new role, she will succeed Carys Damon. Camilleri's appointment will be effective as of July 1, 2024. While she will succeed the General Counsel role, Damon will remain with the company in the capacity of Corporate Secretary.
Overall, Camilleri brings nearly 20 years of experience to the company. Throughout her career, she accumulated knowledge and understanding of different industries, including iGaming and payment regulation. The seasoned executive also has experience in blockchain, licensing, privacy law as well as the fintech vertical. Undoubtedly, her extensive knowledge and understanding of multiple industries make her the perfect fit for the new role.
Currently, Dr. Camilleri holds an LLD from the University of Malta. After her LLD degree, she pursued further education at the University College London where she completed her Master of Laws (LLM), specializing in Commercial Law.
Throughout her extensive career, Camilleri was a part of recognizable companies within the gambling industry. She has held senior-level leadership roles at Booming Games, Casumo and Sportingtech. Moreover, Camilleri's professional tenure includes stints at Betclic Everest Group and Payhound, among others.
Brooks Pierce, Inspired's President and Chief Executive Officer, revealed in a statement that the company is excited to welcome an expert of the rank of Camilleri. "I have had the pleasure of working with her at Scientific Games UK Group and know firsthand the value she will brings to our organization. Simona’s expertise in both the commercial, legal, and regulatory side of gaming will be invaluable for Inspired as we continue to build our business globally," added the executive.
Pierce also acknowledged the contribution of Damon over the years. He said that her dedication over the past twelve years helped guide Inspired. The President and Chief Executive Officer added that it is exciting to see Damon continue her tenure with the company as Corporate Secretary. Finally, Pierce pointed out: "Her guidance has been instrumental in our success, and we look forward to her continued contributions."
Back in December, Inspired announced it selected Marilyn Jentzen for the role of interim Chief Financial Officer. In her new role, she filled in a position left vacant from Stewart Baker who parted ways with the company on December 20, 2023.
