As Canada is poised to expand its iGaming industry in Alberta, Hard Rock Digital has hurried to first make forays into Ontario, the province where online casinos have been up and running for the past several years.
The company obtained a license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) on May 14, 2026, and the license will have a validity period of a year through May 13, 2027, giving Hard Rock Digital a foothold in one of the most lucrative North American online casino markets.
Hard Rock Digital is hoping to replicate its success in the United States, and places such as New Jersey and Michigan, pushing with both an online casino and sportsbook product locally, and the move also serves as a diversification of the company’s Ontario-facing operations, which include a $350m Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa.
The property was introduced in 2025, and it features a 150-room hotel, sizeable gaming floors, dedicated high-limit areas, live table games, and other wine & dine amenities and entertainment options, including the flagship facility - Hard Rock Live.
Hard Rock Bet, the user-facing platform the company runs, already has a substantial footprint. Apart from the two states already mentioned, Hard Rock Bet is also available in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia, where it offers sports betting.
Michigan and New Jersey, as mentioned, see the company run online casino operations on top of its sports betting product.
