The official data, technology and commercial company that powers operators within the sports, media and betting vertical, Genius Sports, unveiled two new appointments to its Board of Directors. On Monday, the company said that it added industry experts Michael Messara and Kenneth Kay to its Board. The appointments are effective from Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

Messara, who is a long-term Genius Sports shareholder and Co-Chief Investment Officer at Caledonia, joins Genius' Board as an Independent Observer. On the other hand, Kay, who is a financial expert with extensive experience joins the company's Board as Independent Director. Moreover, he will also hold the role of chair of the Audit Committee and member of Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

David Levy, Genius Sports' Chair of the Board, shared his excitement in a statement saying: "We are delighted to have Ken join the Board and take the lead as our new Audit Chair." Moreover, he predicted that Kay's experience and extensive industry knowledge will help the company and enable its products to remain at "the center of the sports data ecosystem."

In conclusion, Levy pointed out: "We are pleased to welcome Michael as an independent observer to our Board, demonstrating Caledonia's continued support and commitment to Genius, as it has from our original listing."

Messara was similarly excited about the latest announcement. He said: "Since Caledonia first invested in Genius Sports, we have shared a strong commitment to continue building on Genius's many successes and increasing shareholder value." Last but not least, Messara said he hopes that the appointment will bring benefits to the two companies.

Besides being a part of the Board of Directors of Caledonia, Messara also serves at Arrowfield Pastoral Company as a Non-Executive director. His lengthy career started decades ago with UBS AG in Sydney, but in 2006, he became a part of Caledonia.

Sharing his excitement about the new appointment, Kay added: "This is an exhilarating time to join Genius Sports as it continues to transform the way the world experiences sport." He explained that he will collaborate with the company's Board and help it reach its next phase of growth within the sports data and technology vertical.

Kay brings invaluable experience and skill to Genius' Board. Over three decades, he held various roles within different leading companies such as Las Vegas Sands, Dole Food Company and CB Richard Ellis Group, among others. His professional background includes a senior-level role with MGM Holdings as well.
