The Gambling Commission has suspended the licenses of BresBet Ltd and Bet St George Ltd, which are behind the eponymous bresbet dot com and betsgeorge dot com websites.

UKGC puts licensees under the microscope, cites failures

The decision comes after the Gambling Commission investigated the operator’s compliance with social responsibility and anti-money laundering requirements, and discovered that there were substantial failures with both operators’ management of the relative areas.

While suspended, the Gambling Commission will examine both licenses under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2025, with the potential reinstatement of licenses enacted at such a time when the regulator would be satisfied with the businesses and deem them compliant.

The Gambling Commission has reminded the license holders that they are expected to treat their customers fairly and ensure that the suspension does not impact any access to player funds.

The regulator has specifically noted that the suspension does not interfere with consumers' ability to access their accounts or withdraw their funds. The operators have acted to inform their customer bases about the issues.

"BresBet is currently temporarily unavailable following the suspension of its operating licence by the Gambling Commission. We are currently working through the matter and will provide further updates when appropriate," BresBet wrote in an official statement, also shared on social media, offering full disclosure of events.

Gambling Commission has been acting against different operators in recent weeks and months, taking various actions against operators in the country.
