The association representing organizations and individually licensed land-based casinos and operators in Europe, the European Casino Association (ECA), announced it selected the gaming industry expert Tiina Siltanen for the position of Vice Chair.
Although the announcement came Tuesday, the Association explained that the decision about the appointment was made during its Board Meeting which took place on December 15, 2022, in Finland. During the meeting, the ECA discussed priorities for the upcoming year and prepared the organization of the ECA Annual General Assembly, planned to take place in February at the same time as ICE London.
Siltanen shared her excitement in a statement released on December 20, 2022, saying: "I am very proud of the trust the ECA board has placed in me and look forward to my new role in the ECA." She explained that the appointment doesn't come as a surprise, considering that she was already a part of the ECA Board for the last two years.
Finally, Siltanen said: "Still, there are topics of special importance, particularly concerning the ECA's international events, human resource issues focused upon diversity and inclusion, and the overall reputation of the licensed casino sector to which I would like to devote attention in my new role."
Overall, Siltanen has more than two decades of experience within the industry. During her professional career, she held different executive roles but also worked as a part of customer service teams. Siltanen has rich background, deep understanding and experience in table games, but she also helped develop different poker projects with Casino Cosmopol in Sweden.
Currently, Siltanen is in charge of the casino operations for Veikkaus in Finland. Additionally, she is Casino Tampera and Casino Helsinki's General Manager. As a leader, Siltanen oversees a team of 160 experts in the casino industry and seeks to ensure engaging, fun and safe entertainment for the casino guests.
Per Jaldung, the Association's current Chairman, said about the appointment: "To prepare for the challenges facing our sector in the coming years, from the fight against illegal gambling to the promotion of our industry on the global stage, it is vitally important that we strengthen the leadership of the ECA."
He explained that the ECA's Board unanimously approved Siltanen's appointment as Vice Chair. "I will be stepping down as Chairman of the ECA at the next General Assembly and this appointment ensures strong leadership and robust support for my successor," said Jaldung in conclusion.
