Cage cashiers at Encore Boston Harbor, the luxury hotel and casino resort in Everett, Massachusetts, unionized by joining Teamsters Local 25, a union representing more than 13,000 workers in greater Boston and southern New England.

Unionizing the workers are better positioned for higher wages and benefits

The decision to join Teamsters Local 25 follows a voting process. Ultimately, the unionization push received overwhelming support from the 85 cage cashiers at Encore Boston Harbor.

As a result, they joined 140 of their colleagues working at the casino who have already unionized by joining Teamsters Local 25.

Cage cashiers are important for the casino floor as they help customers by converting money and chips.

Unionizing with Teamsters Local 25, the 85 cage workers will be able to push for higher wages, better benefits and have a stronger say on the job.

Tom Mari, Teamsters Local 25's President, spoke about the importance of the cage cashiers' decision to unionize, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.

"These workers fought long and hard, determined to win a strong voice on the job," he said.

Finally, Mari pointed out: "All of us at Local 25 are ready to make sure these new members get the industry-leading pay and benefits that they deserve."

Ranjana Thapa, an Encore worker and member of Teamsters Local 25, added: "We joined the Teamsters because we believe in fairness, respect, and building a better future for everyone on the job."

Last but not least, Thapa said: "It wasn't easy, but we overcame every obstacle, stood together through the hard times, and never backed down."

Founded 100 years ago, Teamsters Local 25 constantly grows the number of members it represents, helping them push for better pay, health care and working conditions.

Ultimately, the union's noble work benefits thousands of workers and their families.
