BetBlocker has expanded with a new version of its tool that allows players to read up on responsible play in their native language and, more importantly, offers them the choice to exclude themselves from all licensed gambling platforms in the country if they choose to.
The latest language to have been featured is Italian, with BetBlocker entering the market with a localized version that will make it easier for players who may suffer from gambling-related problems to cope with the activity, Casino Guru News learned in a press release shared via email.
BetBlocker points out that there are 67m native speakers as of 2024, with problem gamblers constituting 3% of the population in Italy according to a 2021 study by Minerva Medica. Because of this, BetBlocker and Safer Gambling Analyst Francesco Casartelli have come together and collaborated on the matter to strengthen local protections for players.
"I am extremely pleased that I could give my contribution to an app like BetBlocker. As soon as I noticed that my native language was missing in the website, I could not say no to extending the protection that BetBlocker provides for free to Italian speakers. Safer gambling is founded on giving helping a help, and being able to do that makes me proud of myself. My thanks go to Mr. Garvie for giving me this opportunity," Casartelli said in a statement shared by the UK-based charity.
Duncan Garvie, a long-time responsible gambling veteran and BetBlocker Founder and Trustee, was similarly pleased with the opportunity to bring BetBlocker to yet another jurisdiction and in a yet another local language and spoke highly of the fact that Casartelli was a private person who was nevertheless willing to help assist with the translation of the solution into Italian, something that was seldom the case.
"I can’t thank Francesco enough. His actions will help improve the day-to-day lives of thousands of Italian speakers who use BetBlocker’s service every day and I’ve no doubt that they would be happy to extend thanks on their behalf. He is a credit to the ethos of collaboration that will make the industry a safer place," Garvie said.
BetBlocker usually expanded its service with a Catalan-language version and it further pushed out in South Africa where it offered localized versions in several popular languages. Overall, BetBlocker has been a firm advocate for bringing responsible gambling solutions that are available in people’s mother language.
