The leading national trade group for the US casino industry, the American Gaming Association (AGA), announced an upcoming senior-level appointment. The association revealed that it selected the seasoned expert, Joe Maloney, for the role of Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications. He will join the executive team at the AGA starting from January 2024.

As Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications, Maloney will oversee its public affairs campaigns and help propel different priorities for the Association's members. Moreover, he will also be in charge of the AGA's research, marketing and communications operations, providing strategic guidance and advice.

Before joining the AGA, Maloney held the role of the Vice President, Public Affairs and Strategic Communications with the Washington Commanders. His knowledge helped advance different corporate initiatives, as well as key policies for the Commanders.

Under Maloney's guidance, the team advanced strategic market access partnerships with Fanatics in Maryland, as well as FanDuel in Virginia. The further success he brought for the Commanders included its addition to the AGA's Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly. public campaign. Besides overseeing the Commanders' sports betting efforts, Maloney was in charge of its external affairs related to its new stadium search and collaborations with different stakeholders in Virginia, Maryland and D.C.

Before the senior role at the Commanders, Maloney was a part of a full-service public affairs agency with headquarters in Washington D.C., Locust Street Group (LSG). At the time, he held the role of partner, overseeing the Group's collaborations with the AGA and G2E.

In a statement, Maloney shared his excitement by saying: "I’m honored to join the AGA and its dedicated team at this pivotal moment for the gaming industry." Additionally, he pointed out: "The future holds great promise and I’m energized by the opportunity and challenge of communicating the remarkable benefits and economic impact of legal gaming across the country."

Bill Miller, the Association's President and CEO, revealed that he is thrilled to have an expert with the rank of Maloney lead the AGA's communications team. "Joe is an accomplished professional who has taken on significant public affairs challenges throughout his career," added Miller. "We will benefit not only from his depth of experience and his tireless advocacy, but his enthusiasm and energy to hit the ground running as a champion for the casino gaming industry," he explained in conclusion.
