There’s still a chance for the Dallas Cowboys to compete in the NFC East, but the franchise also needs to address some defensive problems, the award-winning NFL reporter, insider and analyst, Jason La Canfora suggests.
In an exclusive interview for Casino Guru News, the analyst discussed some of the challenges the Cowboys are facing.
"Cowboys fans and NFL aficionados, hope springs eternal because the NFC East is wide open and Jerry Jones is not done spending even though he’s setting spending records," La Canfora said early in the interview.
"And there is some hope for the Cowboys, but first, we’ve got to talk about how they got here," he continued.
La Canfora mentioned the Cowboys’ decision to hire Christian Parker, saying: "And it is all on Jerry Jones, and they hired a very young defensive coordinator in Christian Parker." However, the NFL insider and analyst criticized Dallas for failing to build an experienced staff around the new defensive coordinator.
"The personnel is still lacking individual pass rush and their corner play has been abysmal," La Canfora argued.
Citing advanced scouts, the analyst criticized the franchise’s cornerbacks, suggesting that opposing offenses may exploit that vulnerability.
"Advanced scouts telling me you could throw on their corners whenever you want to, wherever you want to, however you want to, and Jerry and Stephen Jones didn't do nearly enough there. So this is all on them," La Canfora said in conclusion.
