Minnesota’s MLV team reemerges as Minnesota Forge

The Minnesota-based Major League Volleyball (MLV) professional sports franchise unveiled a new team name and visual identity, highlighting its strength, ambition and dedication to shaping the future of women’s professional volleyball.

Minnesota Forge emerges

Previously, the franchise was known as MLV Minnesota. However, going forward, its name will be Minnesota Forge.

The transition from MLV Minnesota to Minnesota Forge cements the new identity of the state’s professional women’s volleyball team and hints to its resilience, ambition and endurance.

The term "Forge" points to the process of creating immense strength through energy, pressure and purpose.

At the same time, the new visual identity and name reflect the collective effort necessary to develop a professional sports franchise.

The new logo of the Minnesota Forge is inspired by the state’s landscape, natural contrasts, and seasons.

Using a range of colors, the logo delivers a sports identity that is focused on Minnesota and represents the team’s boldness when competing.

A press release confirms that the team will start to play in January 2027, hosting home matches at Grand Casino Arena.

The name points to resilience, craftsmanship and strength

Michelle Haines, president of Minnesota Forge, spoke with excitement about the recent milestone announcement.

"Forge connects our Minnesota roots with the future we are building. The name reflects resilience, craftsmanship, and the strength that comes from community," she said.

Moreover, Haines pointed out: "We wanted an identity that feels authentic to this state while expressing the confidence and ambition of a professional team creating new opportunities for elite athletes, inspiring the next generation and advancing women's sports."

Craig Leipold, the Minnesota Forge’s majority owner and owner of the Minnesota Wild, was similarly delighted.

"Today, MLV Minnesota becomes Minnesota Forge, a team that people across this state can call their own," he explained.

Leipold acknowledged that strong professional teams are built around dedication, commitment, belief and shared purpose.

According to him, the Minnesota Forge embodies those objectives and demonstrates commitment to professional growth and engaging with its fan base.
