Ahead of this weekend's game between the Washington Commanders and the New York Giants, the award-winning NFL reporter, analyst and insider, Jason La Canfora, asks what path the former franchise may take this season.
In an exclusive interview for Casino Guru News, La Canfora discussed whether the Commanders should prioritize the long-term health of their star quarterback, Jayden Daniels, or maximize their chances of winning any game.
He said: "Everybody wants to win the Super Bowl every year and we understand that."
"Is the game plan about getting Jayden Daniels through a season so that he doesn't need to undergo another surgery next offseason," the NFL insider and analyst added.
La Canfora pointed to the quarterback's young age, while acknowledging Daniels has missed significant playing time over his first two NFL seasons and is recovering from his most recent serious injury from the game between the Commanders and the Dallas Cowboys.
"He's not the most strapping individual in the world for a running quarterback. He's not nearly as thick and as muscular," the NFL expert explained.
La Canfora mentioned some NFL executives, saying they have compared Daniels' build to that of a basketball player, rather than a football player.
According to the NFL analyst and expert, one key question for Washington would be whether they should manage the workload for Daniels and help him stay healthy and evaluate him over what can be closer to a full season, even if such a scenario means not asking him to do everything possible to win each game.
"And you look at that in its totality and him coming back from another injury, you do have to have conversations at the highest level of that organization, including ownership, now that he's going to be eligible for a contract extension, which he will be after year three, that we're having those conversations with a healthy Jaden Daniels and we're able to assess him over close to a full season, even if that means not necessarily each week, maximizing everything we could ask out of him in order to win that game," La Canfora said in conclusion.
