The Washington Commanders are facing a difficult balancing act between the team’s long-term direction, winning games, and protecting the health of their star quarterback, Jayden Daniels, NFL insider and analyst Jason La Canfora reveals.
"There’s an existential crisis facing the Washington Commanders. What’s their highest calling right now," the award-winning NFL reporter and insider said in an exclusive interview with Casino Guru News.
Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow in Week 2, and La Canfora asked if the franchise is trying to protect its quarterback’s health or if the team is after winning games by "any means possible."
La Canfora acknowledged the Commanders may consider an outside-the-box approach, saying: "Is there a reality somewhere in between?"
The League insider explained that some injuries cannot be prevented, but on some occasions, teams can organize their roster to address potential injury risks.
"There is a sense that while injuries are certainly not all preventable, there are ways that teams can build themselves and construct themselves that maybe mitigate the injury risk," La Canfora revealed.
The Commanders are going to play against the New York Giants on Sunday, October 11, 2026.
The game is incredibly important for both teams, and the NFL analyst and insider explained it is still unclear what the Commanders are trying to achieve and whether they will try to safeguard the future of their quarterback or focus on remaining competitive.
"The Commanders haven’t exactly checked all those boxes, and as they prepare to face the New York Giants in what’s a massive game for both teams, with Washington potentially falling 0-3 already in the NFC East, and Jayden Daniels coming back from his elbow injury and practicing fully and pushing to play in this game, it really does call into question exactly what this organization is trying to accomplish," La Canfora said in conclusion.
