Drake Maye faces tough test amid rising expectations, NFL insider suggests

The opening game loss for the Patriots raised skepticism about the team’s trajectory, and one NFL insider looked into the topic further.

That’s the case for Jason La Canfora, the award-winning NFL reporter, analyst, and insider.

"Drake May, drilling down on him. Everyone watched that game. It was the only game being played. It was the start of the season," the insider said in an exclusive interview for Casino Guru News.

La Canfora reached out to general managers and personnel, while also discussing the topic with NFL execs, who were wary about the Patriots’ defeat.

"It did not look great. Drake Maye started to get happy feet and started to not trust his offensive line a bit in the playoffs," the NFL analyst and insider continued.

The League expert acknowledged the NFL’s exceptionally competitive environment and questioned whether the Patriots have "that next stage to evolve to."

La Canfora pointed to other challenges the Patriots are facing, mentioning the trade of Kayshon Boutte and A.J. Brown’s injury.

"They (New England Patriots) lost Boutte, one of their deep guys. Stefon Diggs was good for 80 catches last year. A.J. Brown (is) already hurt. That’s a terrible sign for them," the insider continued.

In light of those challenges, La Canfora questioned whether Drake Maye has what’s necessary to thrive, saying: "Does he have the weapons? Does he have the pass protection? And as a young quarterback who now has heavy expectations as a runner up in the MVP race last year, what is that going to bring out in him?"
