The Dallas Cowboys’ defense is facing scrutiny and drawing criticism as the team failed to deliver improvements that many expected following the offseason, the award-winning NFL reporter, insider and analyst, Jason La Canfora, reveals.
In an exclusive interview for Casino Guru News, the insider spoke about the Cowboys' defense, the team's recent loss and the control over the franchise by owners Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones.
"The Dallas Cowboys have a major defensive problem. Stop me and look, I will admit, I got suckered a little bit by their offseason," La Canfora said early in the interview.
The NFL insider and analyst said that he, along with NFL observers, believed that Dallas could fix their defensive weakness through a combination of coaching staff and personnel. However, La Canfora acknowledged that the team's recent results have fallen short of those expectations.
"And last week's ugly home Thursday night loss to Tampa, and an undrafted rookie quarterback, really crystallized their various failures," La Canfora continued.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Cowboys 24-16 last week at AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys will face the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.
The league insider placed significant responsibility on the Cowboys' owner, Jerry Jones, as well as his son, Stephen Jones, who have significant control over the team and its operations.
"When I say they were the Dallas Cowboys, I mean he. I mean Jerry Jones and his son Stephen Jones, who have unmitigated control over the franchise, and all owners do, but they exert it in a very different way as they are the de facto general managers," La Canfora explained.
The NFL insider and analyst argued that Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones play central roles in the Cowboys' decision-making, outlining that there isn't "a decision that's made there of any magnitude that doesn't cross their desk or certainly could cross their desk."
In conclusion, La Canfora criticized the franchise's defense, saying: "They are heavily involved, and they put together a defensive staff and a defensive roster that has been nothing but a failure."
