The NFL Draft is still a fair way off, but athletes are already laying their stakes on the First Round.
With multiple athletes now hoping to make the cut, and some, such as Diego Pavia, marred by recent controversies, Carson Beck has spoken up as to why he thinks he deserves to be a First Round Pick for the NFL Draft.
The former Miami Hurricanes quarterback is among the promising prospects of the NFL Draft, and he will most likely be picked by a team, but the question of timing remains.
Beck is confident that his track record is enough to place him among the favorites, and much like Pavia, and other talented college athletes, he is self-assured.
Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Beck argued that his athleticism was not all there was to him as a player. He also pointed out that there is a purely mental side of the game where the ability to process difficult situations matters more.
"I think, it is what I’m really good at and what I’m able to really bring to the table," Beck explained. His mettle and character have already been tested, with the quarterback suffering an ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow back in 2024, and having to undergo surgery and rehab.
Despite this and the pointed barbs about his arm strength following the incident, Beck has remained firmly focused on his career, even though lesser athletes might have thrown the tower in. Since that injury, his track record has kept going up, with Beck completing 72.4% of his passes, which is the second-best result in the recent season.
Back also managed to throw 12 interceptions and has more than 40 collegiate games, with a track record of 37-6 wins. Even more importantly, a fair number of these games have been played against Top 10 opponents.
"The injury last year with the elbow and having to go through that and rehab through that. And then the experience again: 40-plus games, a lot of big-time games. It’s been a great experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything," Beck added.
Whether Beck will go on Day 1 or Day 2 is still debatable, but there are already teams that could benefit from a promising quarterback, and they include the Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals. If Beck has his way and is a First Round Pick, then he will have a lot to live up to.
