A single lottery ticket brought a huge fortune to one lucky player.

That’s the story of a Gaston County woman, who tried her luck with the North Carolina Education Lottery’s Jumbo Bucks ticket and won a life changing prize.

$10 ticket brings life-changing $1m prize

The fortunate player decided to give the $10 scratch-off a try.

The Gastonia woman purchased her Jumbo Bucks ticket at Bre-ina’s Food Mart located on Chapel Grove Road in Gastonia.

To her shock and surprise, the $10 ticket brought her a life-changing $1m top prize.

The incredibly fortunate woman visited the lottery headquarters to claim her newfound fortune.

As is the case for large lottery prizes, the winner was given a choice to either collect the full $1m via annuity payments of $50,000 per year for 20 years or take home a one-time lump cash sum of $600,000.

The Gaston County woman selected the latter option and after the relevant state and federal taxes were applied, saw her bank account increase by $432,063.

The winner did not reveal if she had plans for her newfound fortune.

Each $10 Jumbo Bucks ticket grants players a chance to win a prize between $10 and $1m.

The game debuted on September 4, 2025, and the $1m prize won by the Gastonia woman marked the last prize from the Jumbo Bucks scratch-off, which is why the North Carolina Education Lottery has initiated the process of ending the game.

The odds of winning the top prize from the Jumbo Bucks ticket are 1 in 1,398,273.75.
