Maryland woman thinks she has “bad” lottery ticket, wins $211K

One lottery player thought that she had received a bad ticket but later realized that she had won a once-in-a-lifetime prize.

That’s the story of one Carroll County woman who scored one of the progressive jackpots from a popular FAST PLAY game in Maryland.

A $10 FAST PLAY ticket brings a life-changing jackpot

The winner purchased her ticket at High’s convenience store located at 12780 Frederick Road in West Friendship.

Interestingly, when the player initially checked her ticket, she received an error message and thought it wasn’t good.

"I thought it was a bad ticket. Then I decided to look over," the fortunate woman said in an interview with the Maryland Lottery.

As the Carroll County woman didn’t have enough time, she set the ticket aside and went to work.

Still, she remembered that the ticket needed another look and planned to check it again later on.

While at work, the lucky player looked at her FAST PLAY Platinum Payout ticket once more.

This is when she realized that one of the numbers on her ticket matched the Progressive Jackpot symbols.

As a result, the woman took down the FAST PLAY Platinum Payout game jackpot for a sweet $210,744 payday.

While the player admitted that she usually plays scratch-off tickets, on this occasion, she said that she had a $10 bill left and decided to give the FAST PLAY Platinum Payout game try.

Asked about her plans for her newfound fortune, the woman admitted that she would go on vacation.

10 progressive jackpots remain in play from Platinum Payout

The Maryland Lottery launched the FAST PLAY Platinum Payout game on April 6, 2026.

Each $10 ticket grants players a chance to win a prize between $10 and a progressive jackpot that starts at $75,000.

After the most recent jackpot winning ticket was sold, now, 10 progressive jackpots remain in play from Platinum Payout.

The game also offers tier two and tier three prizes of $50,000 and $10,000 respectively, along with many other prizes smaller in size.

FAST PLAY Platinum Payout players have 20 chances to win and the probability of winning any prize are 1 in 3.62.
