A resident of Brandon, Florida, won a tier-two prize from the popular $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular scratch-off game earlier this week.
The Florida Lottery confirmed that a 56-year-old man won a life-changing prize of $1m after trying his luck with the $50 scratch-off ticket.
Undoubtedly, this was the lottery player's lucky day, considering that the odds of winning $1m from the $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular scratch-off game are 1 in 185,709.
The Hillsborough County man purchased his winning ticket from Saigon Market Place at 3842 W. Waters Avenue in Tampa.
After selling the $1m scratch-off ticket, the retailer will benefit from a $2,000 bonus.
The 56-year-old Brandon resident recently visited the Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee to claim the big win.
The fortunate winner accepted to receive a one-time lump cash sum of $640,000.00.
While the winner collected the life-changing prize, he did not reveal if he had any specific plans regarding the windfall.
The $50 scratch-off ticket is part of the Florida Lottery's A Year for Life Spectacular series that comes in different price ranges starting from $2 per ticket.
The overall odds of winning any prize from the $1,000,000 A Year for Life Spectacular scratch-off game is 1 in 4.5.
When the game was introduced, there were a total of 234 prizes of $1m each. After the latest win, now, 55 tier-two prizes of $1m each remain in play.
While there no top prizes remaining in play, the scratch-off ticket offers 86 prizes of $50,000 with odds of winning one being 1 in 120,711.
A tier-four prize awards $20,000 and the odds of winning such a prize are 1 in 20,091. There are 507 prizes of $20,000 each up for grabs.
