Things will never be the same for Justin Simporiosfrom Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, who just won the province’s largest lottery jackpot in recorded history. Simporios scooped up the top prize of CAD$80m, which makes him the person to have won not just the largest prize in the province, but also in Canada as well!
The winner has told media outlets how blessed he felt at the opportunity to have won this life-altering amount. He talked about his hardships as a father who was forced to work rather than spend time with his family and said that the money would help him do just that.
Simporios also said that he will now pay for his sister’s medical school, and he is not wasting time at all, as he confirmed that he is looking to sit down with financial advisors right away to help him manage the funds. However, Simporios is also not past giving back to the community, as he named this as one of his priorities as well.
The money was won playing the Lotto Max game. The Surrey-based man is also happy to help out other family members. His mother, he says, would never have to work again, thanks to the money. The win feels almost surreal.
He remembers watching a broadcast about the lottery win with the announcer saying that someone in Surrey won, and Simporios joking to his wife that they were now millionaires.
Only to be proven right. Later, Simporios checked the numbers and found out that he had indeed won, heading over to wake up his wife, who had gone to sleep. Of course, Simporiosis had not passed, treating himself to the finer things of life. He said that he hopes to see LeBron James play a live game before he retires.
Yet more importantly than money, Simporios says: "We want to live with a purpose – to help the community around us." With this amount of money, he will be able to do this and more.
