Angelina and Edward Lado of St John, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, have won a six-figure prize from the Atlantic Lottery, and that was not a first for the family. The couple was playing the "Set for Life" scratch-off game and had bought a $4 ticket when they realized that they had won.
The prize, CA$675,000 or roughly $475,000, could be paid out as a lump sum, which the couple chose, or as $1,000 per week for 25 years. The couple was excited and shared with the Atlantic Lottery that they could hardly believe what had happened.
Angelina andEdward naturally struggled to grasp the reality at first, and had to mull it over at home and pore over the ticket before they detrmined that they had won.
"We play modestly, especially now, but if you don’t play, you don’t win. We will think about anything else along the way, but for now we are just digesting the moment and letting it sink in," Edwardo explained.
However, this is not the first time the couple had actually won a large prize. They previously won CA$2,500,000 from a scratch ticket back in 2018, making them perhaps the luckiest lottery couple in the country.
The new lottery windfall will come in handy, the couple admits, as they are planning to use the money to help cover their children’s college education and give them a head start in life.
"We will think about anything else along the way, but for now we are just digesting the moment and letting it sink in," Edwardo further added.
