For one very lucky Betfred player from North London, the game could hardly have gone a better way. The player, who was enjoying a rather humdrum session on the iconic Deal or No Deal TV show slot game, made a £2 stake during one of the rounds to realize, a mere moments later, that she won £4.3m.
The person, whose name was not released to the media but was described as a woman from North London, could not believe her luck. An accountant by trade, the anonymous lucky soul is already planning on how to spend her money.
For starters, she is going to get herself a new car, and quickly book a holiday, while also making sure that she contributes to various family members’ mortgage payments. But don’t think that the anonymous winner is going to give up on work – not in the slightest.
After treating herself and helping settle financial matters, the woman intends to continue working, as she loves her job, and has no trouble going in to work every day. Her story is even more fascinating when you find out that she is not a slot player at all.
The Saturday gaming session that led to the £4.3m payday was her first "go at the slots."
"I normally bet on the horses on a Saturday, and I don’t really know why I decided to try the Deal or No Deal game. I hit lucky and life is a bit of a blur at the moment, with my good fortune yet to sink in. This is a complete life-changer, but I will definitely carry on working," the woman said for Betfred who released her statement.
The winner is not even much of a gambler. Although she has been gambling habitually on Saturdays, this has gone on for only a little more than a year with Betfred specifically. Betfred’s own boss, Fred Done, was similarly ebullient about the win, one of the largest on record.
He said that he was very pleased with the person who won, not only because she grabbed headlines, but also because of her subsequent decision to show kindness with her new-found wealth and help family members pay off their mortgages.
Jo Purvis, Head of PR and events at Blueprint Gaming, which developed the slot game, was similarly cited in the press release, adding:
"We’re delighted that a Betfred player has reaped the rewards of our latest Deal or no Deal hit, making the most of the industry-favourite Jackpot King to realise that big-win potential."
Purvis said that the slot game has the opportunity to captivate players and offer them another way to experience the popular game show that surely love.
Across the pond in the meantime, a woman won $1m in Idaho playing the Millionaire Maker scratch-off game.
