The Cordish Companies hires John J. Chaszar for Louisiana project

The Cordish Companies, the leading entertainment, gaming and hospitality group, announced a new senior-level appointment ahead of the opening of its new Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana. Earlier this week, the company revealed that it hired the services of John J. Chaszar, a gaming executive with extensive experience, who was appointed to the role of Executive Vice President and General Manager at the world-class gaming, hotel, dining and entertainment destination that is currently under construction.

Taking on the role at Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana, Chaszar will oversee strategic operations, including the venue's grand opening, ongoing and future development. In his role as Executive Vice President and General Manager, he will also be tasked with the day-to-day operations of the casino and entertainment destination that is going to be the first such venue for the Shreveport-Bossier market.

Currently, Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana is under construction at the site of the former Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel in Bossier City. The massive entertainment, hospitality and gaming destination has a price tag of more than $270 million and is expected to welcome its first visitors at some point during the first quarter of 2025.

After completion, the hotel-casino is expected to offer more than 1,000 slots and electronic table games, a sportsbook, as well as more than 40 action table games. In addition to world-class gaming amenities, the new venue will offer an upscale hotel with 550 rooms, a fitness center, a resort pool and an Event Center.

During the construction, Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana is expected to create 750 new construction jobs. A similar number of permanent jobs within the hospitality and gaming sector are expected to be created once the resort is ready to welcome visitors.

Rob Norton, President of Cordish Gaming Group, the gaming division of The Cordish Companies, shared his excitement about the latest senior-level appointment in a statement. Finally, Norton said: "We are confident that under John's leadership, the new Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will become a premier destination offering first-class hospitality and entertainment, exceptional customer service, and generating millions of dollars in economic benefits for the Bossier City community for years to come."

Overall, Chaszar brings more than three decades of experience. Throughout his career, he held important senior-level roles with recognizable gambling and entertainment operators across North America. Notably, Chaszar held C-suite roles across the United States, including in Colorado, Mississippi, Kansas, Texas and Illinois, among other states.
