The state-owned company offering gambling services to customers in Sweden, Svenska Spel, announced details regarding its financial performance for the second quarter of the year.
In its report, released earlier this week, the operator highlighted an increase in its revenue deriving from customers without risk or at low risk of gambling harm.
As described by Svenska Spel, the "healthy revenue" achieved a share of 93.2% during the second quarter of 2024.
In contrast, a comparison to the corresponding quarter last year showed that the healthy revenue was 92.2%.
This otherwise means that the revenue from customers who do not experience problem gambling or harm was 1% higher during the latest trading period.
To determine the so-called healthy revenue, Svenska Spel used data from its innovative analysis tool, Playscan.
Developed by the operator, the tool helps it track the gambling activities of its customers.
Playscan helps highlight potential harmful behavior by identifying the gambling habits of the customers based on indications that suggest risky or harmful behavior.
The aforementioned tool reaffirms Svenska Spel's dedication to responsible gambling and helps categorize the consumers depending on their activities.
Mikael Franzén, Svenska Spel's head of gambling responsibility, commented on the topic in a statement.
He revealed that in cases where a client demonstrates risky or harmful behavior, the operator can intervene by sending notifications or in some cases even resort to direct contact.
If a customer displays problematic gambling, Svenska Spel can impose further restrictions, including blocking the specific player's access to its games, added Franzén.
Moreover, the exec explained: "The goal is to detect in time when gambling goes from being controlled to becoming more risky so that we can prevent it from developing into problem gambling."
Just like other leading gaming companies, Svenska Spel takes responsible gambling very seriously.
Anna Johnson, the operator's CEO and president, said on the topic: "We want to minimize revenue from customers who play in a way that can lead to problems."
She revealed that Svenska Spel seeks to ensure that its customers enjoy its services responsibly and do not gamble more than they can afford.
Finally, Johnson pointed out: "As we have strengthened our gambling responsibility measures, the percentage of healthy revenue has continuously increased during the year."
The latest announcement comes ahead of planned new measures by Svenska Spel that seek to strengthen the protection of its growing customer base.
The operator confirmed that additional measures can be expected this autumn.
Ultimately, those measures seek to further increase the share of healthy revenue reported by Svenska Spel, while protecting consumers from gambling addiction and harm.
