This year's Super Bowl LVIII is scheduled to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Ahead of the big game, one of the most anticipated National Football Events (NFL) for the year, gambling operators are preparing to spend millions of dollars on advertising and lucrative promotions that ultimately seek to engage with Americans who are looking to place a wager.

Despite the efforts of betting operators across the United States, a new survey reveals that an overwhelming majority of Americans do not plan to wager on the big game. What If Media Group, the award-winning performance marketing company, disclosed details this week regarding the American Survey, uncovering that some 83% of Americans are not interested in engaging in any gambling activities for the upcoming Super Bowl.

A statement released by What If Media explains that the data from the survey is based on 13,500 recorded responses out of its 500,000 daily user base. The survey selected users on a random basis, which according to the company, gives a "99% confidence level with a margin of error of +/-1%."

Of the responders who participated in the survey, less than 10% admitted to planning to place a sports bet on the Super Bowl via an online sportsbook. A similar percentage of the respondents confirmed their plan to engage in social betting games.

Another surprising discovery of the new study is that more than half of the Super Bowl viewers plan to prepare their food at home rather than ordering food for the event. Some 57% of the survey respondents confirmed they plan to enjoy a home-cooked meal for the occasion, while 24% admitted to plans about ordering food. Some 14% of the Americans who plan to watch the big game said they do not want to snack during the event.

Both discoveries are surprising, especially considering the millions of dollars fast food companies and bookmakers anticipate spending on advertising during the Super Bowl. In fact, an estimated 30 seconds of advertising airtime during the big game costs such companies more than $7m.

Ahead of the Super Bowl that will meet the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, the American Gaming Association (AGA), released a new report, estimating that the bets on the big game are expected to hit $23.1BN. The AGA estimates that a record 67.8m Americans anticipate placing wagers on the big game.
