  • A ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with a ceremonial throw of the first dice at the first-ever live table games casino, will celebrate its opening on April 28, 2026
  • RWNYC now employs more than 2,200 workers after creating 1,250 new jobs

New York’s only casino-hotel that has generated nearly $5bn for the state’s public education system since 2011, Resorts World New York City (RWNYC), is set to open NYC’s first-ever live table games casino.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for April 28

RWNYC’s new facility is positioned next to the Aqueduct Racetrack and offers more than 240 table games.

As a result, visitors will be able to enjoy fan-favorite games like craps, baccarat and blackjack at more than 1,500 gaming positions.

Moreover, the venue’s landmark facility in New York will offer thousands of slot machines, granting players a chance to win a range of multi-million-dollar jackpots.

Overall, there will be more than 2,500 of the hottest slot games available at New York City’s first commercial casino, which is set to open near the end of this month.

The casino’s grand opening ceremony is scheduled for April 28, 2026.

It follows a testing period this week by the New York Gaming Commission.

At the official opening, the hip-hop legend, NAS, is set to attend, while Genting’s Chairman, KT Lim, will appear too.

Not unexpectedly, the much-anticipated opening of NY's largest integrated resort and first commercial casino will attract elected officials, local community leaders, as well as representatives of the entertainment industry.

Besides a glamorous ribbon-cutting ceremony, the opening of the new venue will feature a ceremonial throw of the first dice.

RWNYC continues to grow its workforce

The opening of the gaming floor further increases the number of jobs RWNYC offers.

Following an intensive hiring period and training, the opening of the first commercial casino created 1,250 new jobs, including 950 new table-game dealer positions.

This means that RWNYC’s entire workforce now surpasses 2,200 people.

What’s more, the number of employees is expected to continue to increase, surpassing 2,700 by this summer.

Robert DeSalvio, Genting America East’s President, spoke with excitement about the upcoming commercial casino opening, Casino Guru News learned from a press release.

"New York City has never seen anything like what we're planning for April 28. Once the Gaming Commission's final testing is complete, live table games will be open and operating right here in Queens for the first time in the history of New York City," he revealed.

Moreover, DeSalvio said that RWNYC is ready to welcome visitors and deliver unique experiences.

The executive acknowledged that the go-to gaming, hospitality and entertainment resort now employs more than 2,200 people and added that the number of employees is only expected to grow.

Finally, DeSalvio outlined that the upcoming opening of the Big Apple’s first table games venue marks a transformational moment for RWNYC.
