The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has renewed the license for one of the Keystone State’s most iconic gaming and entertainment properties, the Parx Casino.
The casino runs a wide gaming floor featuring 2,981 slot machines, 155 table games, and 12 hybrid table games, along with a sportsbook, and it further employees 2,300 people.
The regulatory body approved a renewal of the Category 1 horse track casino license of Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, which is the official operator of the property located in Bucks County.
The Parx Casino has been a landmark in the local iGaming industry, having generated more than $10.2bn in revenue since it opened back in 2006, and focusing on a mix of sports wagering, iGaming, table games, and slot machines.
The estimated return to Pennsylvania at this point is around $4.59bn in tax revenue, the PGCB shared on its website.
Despite the sizeable operation, a casino is not guaranteed a license renewal. Instead, the PGCB begins a renewal process, which in this case was conducted in April 2025, with the casino’s host municipality, Bensalem Township, providing testimony on various aspects of the facility’s operations since the last license extension.
"In reaching its decision, the Board also received information from local government officials, community groups, and the PA State Police, along with the Gaming Control Board’s Office of Enforcement Counsel, Bureau of Investigations and Enforcement, Office of Compulsive and Problem Gambling, and Bureau of Casino Compliance," the PGCB noted in its official press statement.
In March, the Parx Casino also introduced an on-site 160-guestroom hotel, which includes 16 suites, indicating that the property was confident that it would get the go-ahead to continue operating in the township and the state.
Commenting on the launch of this new hospitality add-on, Parx Casino CEO Eric Hausler said: "Parxview Hotel represents an exciting new chapter for our property and our guests. This hotel transforms Parx into a true overnight destination, allowing guests to enjoy everything we offer, from gaming and dining to live entertainment, while enjoying the comfort and sophistication of a premier hotel experience."
