The premier resort, casino and entertainment destination in Asia, Mohegan INSPIRE Entertainment Resort, celebrated its official grand opening earlier this week. The exciting event comes on the heels of the resort's soft opening dating back to November. On Tuesday, approximately 500 guests, including key international and domestic figures, attended the glamorous event which had an "Invitation to INSPIRE: The Joining of Two Cultures" theme.
The grand opening ceremony for the Mohegan INSPIRE Entertainment Resort took place at its versatile hub, the Rotunda and the INSPIRE Ballroom, a premier venue deemed as the most expansive hotel ballroom. A wide range of programs and performances captured the attention of the guests, ensuring supreme entertainment and leaving lasting impressions.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by key Mohegan executives, including James Gessner Jr., the chairman of the Mohegan Tribal Council, Ray Pineault, Mohegan's President and CEO, Lynn Malerba, Mohegan's Chief, along with Mohegan Council of Elders and other senior-level executives.
Besides representation from Mohegan, the exciting event was attended by important South Korean government officials and local politicians. Yu In-chon, the country's Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister, Yoo Jeong-bok, Incheon's Mayor, Lee Hak-jae, Incheon International Airport Corporation's President, and Philip Goldberg, US Ambassador to South Korea, also attended the glamorous grand opening ceremony.
Ray Pineault, Mohegan's President and CEO, shared his excitement about the latest announcement in a statement. "Our journey here has been guided by the Spirit of Aquai, Mohegan's guiding principle that emphasizes hospitality, mutual respect, collaboration and relationship building," he revealed. Last but not least, Pineault pointed out: "Mohegan INSPIRE is poised to become a landmark destination and a catalyst for tourism, economic growth, and cultural exchanges, enhancing the region's allure to visitors from across the globe."
James Gessner Jr., Mohegan Tribal Council's chairman, shared the positive vibe. "The grand opening of INSPIRE is a momentous occasion for Mohegan, making both a historic partnership for our tribe and elevating our global network of resorts to unprecedented heights," he added. Last but not least, Gessner Jr. pointed out: "I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to the South Korean government for the opportunity to bring our vision to life in such a vibrant country and for the unyielding support of the Mohegan Tribe, as well as to the many individuals who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes."
The ribbon-cutting event started with a traditional Mohegan smudge ceremony. After that, a Mohegan drum group called Unity of Nations performed an "Honor Song" that celebrated the unity of the local community and the meeting of the two cultures. To ensure further engaging entertainment, the grand opening ceremony included performances by a popular Korean music group along with speeches from Mohegan's leadership.
