Michigan goes after 8 unregulated websites in the Great Lakes State

• The MGCB has gone after eight more websites in the Great Lakes State, issuing cease-and-desist letters
• The regulator has warned consumers to steer clear of such websites, as they pose a serious risk to their financial and personal information
• Michigan reminded gambling operators that they need to have a license from the MGCB to target residents

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has issued a new round of cease-and-desist letters against online casino brands and operators that are not licensed in the state.

This is the latest enforcement action by the regulator, which has set out to turf out such operators from the state, under the threat of further legal action involving the Attorney General’s Office.

Michigan continues its crackdown against unlicensed gambling sites

The newest websites to have been handed down a letter by the MGCB include Bspin Casino, EverygameCasino, EverygameSportsCasino, Kudos Casino, PlayCrocoOnlineCasino, Slots of Vegas, SpinDimension, and SuperSlots, all of which are accused of operating without the regulatory authority to do so.

The watchdog cautioned the public and Michigan residents that playing at such casinos could lead to loss of personal and financial information, as well as actual financial loss. In a customary statement issued by the MGCB Executive Director, Henry Williams, the regulator’s head highlighted the risks such platforms posed to ordinary players.

"These unlawful operators try to present themselves as legitimate entertainment options, but they offer zero player protections, no accountability, and a real risk to consumers."

He also said that any platform that wishes to offer gambling in Michigan would have to go through the customary certification process set out by the MGCB.

Michigan says core laws broken, remedial action needed

Presently, the websites in question are violating at least several state laws, the MGCB claims, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.

Previously, in August, the regulator issued cease-and-desist letters against six other websites. Michigan gives websites 14 days to comply with the requests and then refers the cases to the AG’s Office.
