One hotel and casino resort in Michigantemporarily shut its gaming floor after the roof of one of its restaurants collapsed.

That's the case for Bay Mills Resort and Casino on the shores of Lake Superior's Waiska Bay in Brimley.

Sacy's Restaurant's roof collapsed partially

On Tuesday evening, the popular hotel and casino resort announced that the roof of Sacy's Restaurant had partially collapsed.

Announcement was made public at around 9:30 PM with Bay Mills Resort and Casino explaining that the partial roof collapse didn't result in any injuries to guests or patrons.

"Law enforcement, EMS, and the fire department are currently on scene conducting evaluations and ensuring the safety of the area," the hotel and casino resort said at the time.

Upon initial review of the damaged area, the hotel and casino acknowledged that the roof collapse may have been the result of "broken roof trusses."

"The situation remains under assessment. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available. At this moment in time, Sacy's Restaurant will be closed until further notice," Bay Mills Resort and Casino wrote.

Considering the situation, the venue confirmed the evacuation of the gaming floor as a precaution, encouraging the guests to go to the Back Bay Grill and Games.

About an hour later on the same night, Bay Mills Resort and Casino acknowledged that Sacy's Restaurant will remain closed and confirmed that breakfast will be served at Back Bay Grill and Games.

The next day, the venue confirmed the reopening of its casino floor.

"We are happy to share that the main casino floor is open. Please note that Sacy’s Restaurant and the hallway leading to it will remain closed," reads a statement from Bay Mills Resort and Casino released on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

After the reopening of the casino floor, the hotel and casino resort confirmed that several fortunate winners scored a range of jackpots.

The largest prize came from HUFF N' MORE PUFF, with one fortunate soul scoring $15,610.76 jackpot, while a player on GAME KING took home $5,934.61 prize.
