MGM Resorts unveils plans for $300m remodel at MGM Grand

The recognizable gaming, entertainment and hospitality company, MGM Resorts International, announced its plans to renovate one of its landmark properties on the Las Vegas Strip.

Remodeling of rooms, suites at MGM Grand starts

On Friday, the company confirmed it will invest a total of $300m to remodel all hotel rooms and suites within the main tower at MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

The massive remodeling is expected to upgrade a total of 4,212 rooms.

Ultimately, MGM Resorts plans to upgrade the guest experience for MGM Grand Hotel and Casino guests.

The renovated rooms will offer "modern, sophisticated design elements inspired by the flair of the disco era," as explained in a statement released by the company.

The room and suite remodel complements a range of entertainment and dining experiences MGM Grand plans to open at some point this year.

MGM Resorts Design and Development joined forces with Gensler, a globally recognizable architecture firm, for the redevelopment of the hotel rooms.

Combining modern and disco-era elements, the remodeled rooms seek to highlight MGM Grand Hotel and Casino's rich history.

Amenities guests will benefit from range from spacious walk-in showers, brightly illuminated closets for better storage, as well as blackout shades that can help eliminate light and ensure better sleep.

In addition, the remodeled rooms will use brighter materials "for a more spacious feel," as well as minibar units with refrigerators.

Further details released by MGM Resorts reveal what guests can expect from King Rooms and Queen Rooms.

The former will stand out with warm gray textured wall coverings, vibrant designs for carpets as well as rich walnut wood finishes, while the latter will feature "lighter gray stone finishes, vertical sconce accents and tailored headboards, providing a spacious and sophisticated retreat."

All rooms that will undergo renovation will benefit from enhanced entertainment thanks to Smart TVs, as well as convenient charging stations at both sides of the bed which will include USB, USB-C and standard power outlets.

Guests will be able to reserve remodeled rooms starting in March

According to MGM Resorts, the first batch of renovated rooms part of its main tower will become available for reservation starting from March 1, 2025.

On the other hand, the room and suite remodeling is expected to be completed in December 2025.

Mike Neubecker, MGM Grand's President and COO, shared his excitement about the latest announcement.

"MGM Grand has long been recognized as the center of entertainment and excitement in Las Vegas and these newly remodeled rooms, coupled with new attractions on the horizon, demonstrate our commitment to evolving the guest experience for both leisure and business travelers," he revealed.

Finally, Neubecker said: "These new rooms are a significant milestone in the property's evolution as MGM Grand positions itself for the exciting developments set for the south end of The Strip."

Previously, MGM Grand remodeled its 700-room Studio Tower back in 2022.
