KSA metes out €900,000 penalty to Sarah Eternal SRL

The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) has targeted a new website in its latest enforcement action.

The company-operator of the website, Sarah Eternal SRL, has been handed down a €900,000 fine, which is applied to the company over its illicit operation of a gambling website, the regulator explained on its official website.

KSA goes after new operator in the Netherlands

In a translated statement published on the website, KSA Chairman Michel Groothuizen has said that the regulator will act against any breaches of gambling law:

"The Netherlands has a legal market to ensure that people who want to gamble can do so safely. With these types of illegal providers, we often see that no account is taken of the prevention of risky gaming behavior. For example, there was no age verification, which also allows minors to play, and the possibility was offered to gamble with cryptocurrency. As SA, we take tough action against these types of parties."

Sarah Eternal SRL is accused of running Casinosky, which has, in turn, targeted Dutch gamblers without a KSA license. The current penalty is higher than usual for such offenses, as the regulator explained that Sarah Eternal SRL has allegedly failed to comply with demands from the regulator.

The operator and its website were fined already once in the past. In March 2024, the operator was served with a smaller penalty of €280,000. This is not the only enforcement action the KSA has published this week.

Regulator strictly monitoring the gambling market for transgressions

Earlier, the regulator also acted against an unnamed operator over the use of an autoplay option in a game. According to the KSA, a single game of roulette featured the autoplay option, which is prohibited in the Netherlands, as it could lead to addictive behavior and practices.

The transgression did not necessitate any further action by the regulator, as it was a minor offense, and remedial action had been taken right away, the watchdog explained. The case of Sarah Eternal SRL, however, is a different matter.

The KSA has been handing out stiff financial penalties. The regulator has targeted a number of different websites and operators over the months, including Winbet and BlockDance BV.
