GameOn has announced that it is teaming up with Professional Fighters League (PFL) to create new and innovative fantasy games that are designed to engage audiences, boost viewership for the sport, and generally benefit both partners.
GameOn specializes in the creation of net-gen fantasy sports solutions and web3 games. PFL on the other hand is one of the fastest-growing and most innovative sports leagues and has enjoyed sustained interest from MMA fans.
The league and the promotion are currently billed as the second-biggest MMA organization in the world, and the organization is looking to further cement its leadership position in the vertical.
In the PFL, fighters compete in Regular Season, Playoffs, and a World Championship, more akin to traditional sports structures rather than the Ultimate Fighting Championship where the promotion talks up individual bouts and expects to drive fan engagement and hype in the buildup.
There is a $1m prize pool on the line for the World Championship as well, giving fighters a further incentive to do their best.
The PFL is enjoying a strong uptake of fighters as well, with the likes of Francis Ngannu and Jake Paul also joining in and bringing their million-strong followership into the PFL. More importantly, though, GameOn will now be able to create and provide a "new generation" of experiences to fans, according to company CEO Matt Bailey.
Bailey is confident that his PLAYN3XT platform will allow the PFL to grow and strike home with fans, although no immediate details were given as to how GameOn would directly impact engagement. PFL CEO Pete Murray was similarly pleased to see this new alliance form.
Murray explained that GameOn is a company that helps lay digital bridges between organizations such as the PFL and fans from all over the world. He added that both GameOn and the PFL are dynamic companies that are keen on making sure there is a strong engagement with fans.
The PFL has been able to definitely give GameOn a lot of cool assets to work with. In terms of who competes in the league, thee are presently fighters from more than 20 countries, and 25% of the total fighter pool that is part of the PFL is currently ranking top 25 in the world, meaning that the league has attracted most of the biggest names in the sport.
GameOn will build advanced fantasy games to help promote the PFL and add to its momentum and growth all over the world.
