The Spanish Federation of Rehabilitated Gamblers (FEJAR) has celebrated the €20,000 donation received by the organization on the occasion of ICE Barcelona 2026 and has hailed the lasting impact that the move has had on helping individuals struggling with gambling-related problems.
The funding for the donation was provided by a number of industry stakeholders, who also champion responsible gambling, among whom were Acordjoc, Betsson Group, BGaming, Cirsa, Flutter, Grupo Orenes, Merkur, Merkur Dosniha, Novomatic, Novomatic Spain and Zitro.
FEJAR used the donation to launch the inaugural edition of the Ibero-American Conference on Responsible Gambling, bringing together regulators from Chile, Colombia, Puerto Rica, Brazil, Portugal, and Spain, and exchanging knowledge and strategies, sharing challenges, and identifying best practices when it comes to responsible gambling.
FEJAR President Gerardo Rodríguez spoke about the event and its significance as well as ICE’s contributions to furthering responsible gambling:
"We believe that initiatives such as the Sustainable Gambling Zone and the ICE Research Institute are positive indications of a growing willingness to promote research, generate evidence, and encourage discussion on issues that are critical to the future of the sector."
"Investment in knowledge is essential if we are to better understand risks, evaluate existing measures and identify new approaches to prevention and protection. From our perspective, any effort that supports independent research, rigorous analysis and collaboration among different stakeholders should be welcomed. It also reflects a growing awareness that the sustainability of the gambling sector must be built on shared responsibility and a commitment to those who experience gambling-related problems," Rodríguez noted.
Previously, BetBlocker also received a €20,000 contribution, part of the larger sum collected by contributors, which stood at €462,500. BetBlocker hailed the initiative and called it a prime example of how harm minimization should be viewed as an integral part of the industry.
The Sustainable Gambling Zone has become a core aspect and part of ICE’s very identity and will be returning in 2027.
