The much-anticipated and now-concluded 2024 edition of the Game Developer Awards has once again reunited the cream of the iGaming crop, bringing together some of the most distinct companies in the sector and the industry as a whole, and offering them a chance to vie for a prestigious title across multiple categories.
A total of 28 awards were awarded to game studios, industry experts, and operators, with hosts Trudy Kerr and John "Doom" Romero presiding over the glamorous and exciting ceremony.
The event saw the likes of Play’n Go, Elk Studios, and Pragmatic Play, among others walk away with a distinction to the cheer of attendees and colleagues. All companies compete across a host of categories, and specifically:
Commenting on this year’s edition of the event, and the ceremony itself, SBC Founder and CEO Rasmus Sojmark welcomed all contestants and said that the Game Developer Awards ceremony has been another opportunity to celebrate what has been remarkable accomplishments by the industry, both locally and internationally.
Among the winners were Play’n Go which won the SlotCatalog’s Game Studio of the Year Award back-to-back, and also added the Game Music/Soundtrack Award for the company’s Hugo Legacy.
Moving on, Playtech was distinguished with the Game Licensed Content Award for Breaking Bad: Cash Collect & Link. The event also saw Pragmatic Play scoop up both the Game Mechanic of the Year and the Game Design & Art Direction Award for the MultiHold feature and Slot Legacy Award Title for Gates of Olympus.
EveryMatrix managed to win the Aggregator of the Year Award and The Mill Adventure added the Platform Innovation of the Year. PowderKegStudios won the Slot Debut Award for the Munition Mines title, and Stormcraft Studios won Slot to Watch for the studio’s work on Immortal Romance 2.
Overall, this year’s Game Developer Awards ceremony was one of the most distinguished to date, with the CasinoBeats Summit itself drawing 4,500 industry professionals who met at the Intercontinental Hotel in Malta for the annual industry gathering that celebrates excellence in gaming.
Many other companies walked away with a distinction from this year’s event, including Light & Wonder and Netflix which won in the category for the best Slot Collaboration of the Year for their interpretation of Squid Game, which Casino Guru News previously reported on.
