With Brazil hammering out the final details of its sports gambling industry, the region is becoming increasingly important to international organizations that are monitoring and seeking to ensure the fairness of sports. To this end, the International Betting IntegrityAssociation (IBIA) has been strengthening its presence in the country, and Latin America in general.

The latest operator to join the association is galera.bet, a Brazilian-facing operator by Match Time Solutions B.V. The brand is one of the best-established local sportsbooks, and it has been deemed a trustworthy and reliable partner to further strengthen IBIA’s monitoring capabilities in Brazil.

Galera.bet is well-represented in the country as it’s an official sponsor of Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the country’s top-flight soccer competition. It’s also a sponsor of the Brazilian Basketball Confederation and the Brazilian 3x3 Basketball Tour. Galera.bet makes an important addition to IBIA’s sprawling network of partners that are equally determined to help tackle sports betting fraud and assist authorities to investigate suspicious betting patterns, and especially in Brazil.

As an organizaiton, IBIA has dozens of trusted brand members, such as Fanatics Sportsbook, Entain, Flutter, DraftKings, Great Canadian Entertainment, and more. The logo of galera.bet has already been added to the official website under Sportsbook Members as well.

Commenting on this opportunity, galera.bet CEO Marcos Sabiá said that the sportsbook was honored to be joining an organization such as IBIA and make the integrity of sports the company’s priority.

"We believe that collaboration between partners is extremely important to protecting the integrity of sport and betting markets from corruption. We hope this is the beginning of a long and successful partnership," Sabiá said. IBIA CEO Khalid Ali was equally excited to welcome the operator as its newest member of the association’s integrity monitoring network.

Ali hailed not only galera.bet’s decision to join but also what it means. The chief executive said that IBIA members handle $137bn of the global sports betting turnover, which makes it easier for the association and its partners to track wrongdoing.

IBIA has been issuing frequent reports focusing on instances of suspected match-fixing offenses, with the Q2 2023 results reaching 50 alerts. IBIA has also signed a sports betting protection partnership with the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming to ensure that it has more opportunities to address integrity threats in the local market, but also promote healthy and sustainable play among sports betting audiences.
