BetMGM, the market-leading sports betting and gaming company, a joint venture of MGM Resorts and Entain, announced a new partnership with Carnival Corporation, the British-American cruise operator that has a fleet of more than 100 vessels. Under the terms of the new deal, BetMGM will deliver its mobile and retail sports betting and iGaming services to cruise ships.
The services of the leading iGaming operator will be available on more than 50 ships ported in the US. The company explained that its sports betting and iGaming services will be available for Carnival Cruise Line, Holland America Line as well as Princess Cruises.
The new deal will see Carnival Corporation offer BetMGM-branded services on board its US-branded ships in international waters. What's more, the collaboration between the duo will bring new unique promotions and marketing campaigns. Although BetMGM did not confirm a timeline for when its services will be available for cruise ship guests, the company said it plans to roll out its platform in the coming months.
In a statement released on Friday, June 17, 2022, Carnival Corporation's SVP of Global Casino Operations, Marty Goldman, said: "We're very proud to be able to deliver the excitement and engagement of sports betting and iGaming to our guests through our partnership with BetMGM." He outlined that joining forces with BetMGM will enable Carnival to offer even more immersive digital content that complements the casinos available on the ships.
Just like other hospitality businesses, cruise ships have also felt the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic. In the last few years, due to the pandemic, hospitality, entertainment and many other industries were impacted economically. However, the new collaboration will undoubtedly bring benefits for Carnival, considering it will expand its list of amenities which is likely to attract new guests.
On the other hand, BetMGM will benefit from the new deal by expanding the reach of its services. Besides on-board at the luxurious cruise ships, some Carnival guests may even choose the brand as their go-to sports betting or iGaming operator.
Commenting on the recent deal, BetMGM's CEO, Adam Greenblatt said: "We've found an ideal partner in Carnival Corporation and look forward to providing our sports betting and iGaming products to its millions of passengers." He explained that the recent deal with Carnival will help BetMGM further expand its footprint.
Earlier last week, Great Place to Work and Fortune Magazine, named BetMGM as one of this year's Best Workplaces in New York. The prestigious award comes after a massive study that included more than 1 million responses from more than 6.1 million US employees.
